The 'Resident Evil' franchise has turned out to be very successful with at least four films based on the numerous video games.
While Sony Screen Gems is busy working on a 'Resident Evil 4: Afterlife', there are already talks of a fifth film.
'Afterlife' will be the franchise's first 3D film and is due to hit theatres in 2010.
According to Bloody-Disgusting, "Instead of moving forward with the ongoing story, the studio is planning a quasi-reboot, which is tentatively titled 'Resident Evil Begins'. While it's a long, long, long way off, the idea is to redo the story of a special military unit who fights a powerful, out-of-control supercomputer and hundreds of scientists who have mutated into flesh-eating creatures after a laboratory accident."
It would be interesting to see if the studio keeps actress Milla Jovovich in the lead role, as she is sure to cost a penny. Being a prequel, it will also give them the freedom to cast a new face, and rework the plot to match up with the already-released films. There is only one problem though: Jovovich is married to producer Paul W.S. Anderson, but we are sure he will have a role for her there somewhere.
Got something to say?
