'Hellboy' writer Peter Briggs makes his directorial debut very soon, as planning for the supernatural action thriller 'Mortis Rex' gathers momentum.
The project will be produced by Jim Jacks, who recently worked on the 'Mummy' franchise for Universal Pictures.
According to Variety, the film will be set in around 122 AD, and "centres on a disgraced Roman war hero who is given a last opportunity to redeem his reputation when sent to a Roman garrison beset by a spate of brutal and unexplained killings."
Dominic Ianno will serve as executive producer, while Stuart Pollok, Matthew Dench and Marisa Kagan will help with producer duties. Filming is due to start in Italy, Eastern Europe and the U.K soon.
