The teenage gang from East High have reached their final year at school and it’s time for Troy, Gabriella, Ryan, Chad, Sharpay and Taylor to leave the memories behind and enter the real world.

But not before one last musical is performed...

Of all Disney’s ridiculously popular ‘High School Musical’ movies, this is by far my favourite. And yes, I say this with a quick glance across my shoulder to see who’s in earshot, but it’s simply undeniable that ‘High School Musical 3’ is an utter blast from start to finish.

Avoiding the mind-boggling bubblegum scenes of the second movie almost entirely, ‘HSM3’ attempts to address such teenage-angst moments as hopes and fears about the future, reflecting upon the memories collected throughout high school – and such ridiculously important questions as who to take to the prom.

But it’s the songs, the choreography, and the simple, clean fun that make ‘HSM3’ such a blast.

It’s worth noting that if you didn’t enjoy the first movie – not to mention the nauseatingly cheesy and syrupy second one – then you won’t enjoy the third. But, if you’re going to watch only one of the three, this is definitely the one.

Rent it when you’re sitting under a stormy sky and need something to bring a smile to your face – to remind you that there are still things to enjoy, even if it is a little bit too Disneyfied.

There’s something about ‘High School Musical 3’ that will no doubt find its way to that sweet spot inside no matter how much you try to resist it. Just don’t tell anyone I said so.

Bonus features:
The usual deleted scenes and bloopers are filled out by a sing-along option (watch the film with subtitles to the songs so that you can... well, sing along) a special look at the prom night and a tearful goodbye from the cast. In other words, plenty of fodder if you’re a true fan.
