A surprisingly sweet movie considering the premise, ‘Wedding Daze’, is a straight-to-DVD rom-com that actually manages to deliver the right stuff.

When Anderson (Jason Biggs) proposes to his girlfriend in public — in full Cupid get-up — she takes the easy way out and promptly drops dead, leaving him wishing the roles were reversed, because without her is a broken man.

He quits his job and goes into mourning. Well, until his best friend Ted tries to break him out of his funk by hauling him off to the nearest diner for a lecture on living life to the fullest.

Anderson takes the advice to heart and proposes to the very next woman he sees — his waitress Katie (the cute as a button Isla Fisher). Of course she accepts, much to the surprise of Anderson and Ted.

Sure, the premise is ridiculous, but thanks largely to Biggs and Fisher, it manages to carry through the film. The selection of oddball characters thrown in along the way goes a long way in helping as well.

At times it goes too far, and even with a state of suspended belief, the sub-plots of 'Wedding Daze' just don’t work. But this is the exception rather than the rule because on a whole it is actually a pretty entertaining movie.
