Adam Sandler gets political — sort of — in ‘Don’t Mess With The Zohan’, a comedy that just doesn’t know when enough is enough.

Sandler has lampooned everything from pro golfers to firemen and has enjoyed incredible success doing so, but he has for the most managed to walk the tightrope of funny and just plain stupid.

Unfortunately he doesn’t do it with Zohan.

Sandler plays Zohan, and Israeli Mossad agent who fakes his own death in order to pursue his dream career of hairstylist in New York City. Funny? Sure, why not? But while the premise may be great the delivery is not.

From whoring himself out to grandmothers in the hair salon to overly public displays of affection with this friend’s overweight mom, Sandler just doesn’t know when to stop.

Sure, the extras will tell you how great it was to break down the boundaries between the Palestinian and Israeli actors during the filming of the movie, you only see hints of the message in the finished product.

Sandler was undoubtedly trying to send a clear message against the conflict in the Middle East with ‘Zohan’ and while that in itself is positive, the problem is that the message gets buried under all the silliness.
