Werewolves are designed to kill — the fangs, the speed, the superhuman strength. But in human form, these shapeshifters can't even shoot straight, their prolonged gunfights showing all the accuracy of Dick Cheney.

And yet, that's not even their biggest problem.

According to prophecy — something about the moon and The Chosen One turning 13 — the days of the werewolf are coming to an end. The good guys (let's call them vegetarians) are keen to say goodbye to the curse. The bloodthirsty villains (favourite dish: human) are less enthusiastic.

So, guided by a tracker hawk, all the evil werewolves in the world (four) climb on their Harleys in search of the 12-year-old kid who might end their feeding frenzies. Of course the veggies are protecting the boy, setting the scene for random shootouts and production values that rival those of 'Walker Texas Ranger'.

With the cast headed by B-movie stalwarts Elias Koteas ('Cyborg 2', 'The Prophecy') and Rhona Mitra ('Doomsday', 'Underworld 3') all that's impressive are the leaps of logic and the creature effects. Created by industry legend Stan Winston and used with uncharacteristic restraint by the hack in the director's chair, they're wasted on something as toothless as 'Skinwalkers'.
