A sweet and sentimental movie recalling an era famous for shoulder-pads, big hair and an excess of glitter, ‘One More Night’ is surprisingly entertaining.
A group of thirty-something friends get together for a 1980s 'rager' party, and while we never actually gets to see the party, it must have been a hum-dinger considering how trashed the house and the friends are the next morning.
Instead we follow the group as they clean up from the night before, taking frequent trips down memory lane, which serves to dredge up some good, some bad and some that should be left in the past — along with the shoulder pads and big hair.
Infidelity, betrayal and secrets begin to emerge amongst the group, who begin to discover — with the help of copious amounts of booze and dope — that their memories of the past may not have been as great as they remember.
Featuring a cast of recognisable, but hardly big-name, actors, along with a decent injection of '80s music, the film flows along nicely, and while it is full of sentimental moments, steers clear of becoming overly soppy.
Even if you are not a child of the '80s, 'One More Night' holds true to all eras, call it a re-coming of age story for a group of thirty-something mates, who spent so much time look back, that they forgot to look forward.
It may have slipped under your radar, but it is definitely worth a look.
