The straight-to-DVD release serves as another reminder of how far the career of Tara Reid has fallen. 'Unnatural Causes' is simply unnaturally cruel punishment for this reviewer.

When Matt (Angus Macfadyen) suspects his wife Julia of having an affair he orders a hit on her; when the news comes back that his betrothed is worm-food, Matt is torn up by his guilt and puts a bullet in his head.

But Julia is not dead, and while Matt is, it seems he did not actually kill himself, but was rather murdered… if the plot seems contrived, that's probably because it is.

You can see the 'twists' coming from a mile off, while the holes in the plot are simply ignored by the writers.

Reid, who once showed promise in films like 'Body Shots' and the 'American Pie' series, is just plain awful, while the rest of the cast is either the same or even worse.

There is a reason this skipped the cinema, and chances are in will end up in the bargain bin before long…
