Brad Pitt has rubbished talk of an August wedding to his long-time partner, Angelina Jolie.
Speaking to reporters at Cannes after a press screening of his new film Killing them Softly, Pitt said: "We actually really, truly have no date" for the wedding that was announced in April.
He also confirmed that Jolie would not join him on the red carpet in Cannes for the premier of his drama, in which he stars as a hit man.
"She's not here right now. She's prepping for a movie that starts pretty soon," the actor said. Jolie is currently scheduled to begin work on Maleficent, a live-action retelling of the Sleeping Beauty tale through the eyes of the titular villain.
Pitt and Jolie famously became close on the set of the 2005 film Mr and Mrs Smith. They raise six children together – three biological and three adopted children.
And when asked if he planned to star in another film with Jolie, Pitt replied: "Actually, I'd love to."
Pitt's new film features him as a contract killer working for a mob syndicate run like any major US corporation, complete with brutal cost-cutting to cope with the recession.
Killing Them Softly is one of the 22 films vying for the festival's coveted Palme d'Or, to be awarded on Sunday.
