It's been rather quiet on the celebrity baby front lately — but, no more! Jessica Alba is expecting.
The star of such silver-screen classics as 'Into the Blue' and 'Fantastic Four' (not to mention the spectacular 'Honey') is having a little one with her boyf Cash Warren. And the bump-watching tabloids can report this, safe in the knowledge that the happy, happy news has been confirmed by Alba's rep.
"I confirm that Jessica and Cash are expecting a baby in late spring, early summer," said the Alba flacker. Seems mean-spirited to speak ill of the prospect of a new arrival, but should there really be more of Jess, in any form at all? Well, at least the kid will be good looking…
Moving on to a slightly brighter member of the star set — George Clooney is continuing to do good on our continent, making his second trip out to Darfur in Sudan soon.
"I'm not a politician, so the reason I go is to focus attention there," explains Clooney. "We're going to try to get deeper into Darfur, try to get some cameras in to the tougher camps and have conversations. That's basically all I can do. If you put famous people in front of very ugly sites, people will watch…"
And, as George points out: "It certainly reminds you to be ridiculously happy with your life. Once you see people suffering in the way these people are suffering, you feel very guilty about not suffering at all."
Happily, Clooney's getting a well deserved Peace Summit Award at the World Summit of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, taking place in Rome.
Not winning any award for peace or singing, Victoria Beckham is nonetheless an entertaining light in the celebrity firmament. She's been cementing her place in the American consciousness with her appearance on Larry King recently, and of course the US leg of her Spice Girls world tour is currently underway.
Says Posh Spice of her husband, David Beckham: "He's incredibly good looking. But I think the older that we get I'm proud of him. I'm proud of his talent. I'm proud of the way that he looks. And I'm flattered when people find him attractive."
(pronounced On-or-ay) delights in the candyfloss vacuousness of celebrity gossip. Living in New York City, Trixy keeps an eye out for the rich and famous of the Big Apple as she hunts for great vintage clothing and tries to balance the joys of both style and substance. She is
a firm believer in nice manners, wrist-length gloves and the greatness of television. So far, so good — but what about all those nasty infidelity rumours she suffered through with Becks? "He's a very loyal man and he's a fantastic, fantastic husband," as well as, "a very, very romantic man".
No, there's no baby on the way, says Vicky, but she confirmed that she's definitely keen to have more kids — especially a girl.
Everyone thinks boys can be trouble — and the Beckhams do have three of them to deal with — but girls aren't problem-free…
Two girls getting into hot water recently are Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, the cute little 'Full House' twins turned uber media moguls. The pair are deeply unpopular with Peta, the animal-rights group, which says that the Olsen twins have, "ignored pleas to stop wearing fur and using it in their fashion collection".
Peta has even come up with its own names for the girls: 'The Trollson Twins' and 'Hairy-Kate and Trashly' — and they're planning to protest the pair's use of fur at the Olsen's Hollywood Walk of Fame star, in LA, with posters sporting the slogan: "Fur is worn by beautiful animals and ugly people."
Back to babies now! Yes, the stars are pulling their weight to give us some new baby gossip — especially Jennifer Lopez, who's been fuelling speculation lately that she's expecting not just one junior Lopez-Anthony, but twins.
