"It's very difficult to explain that," says Richards. "My daughter had a girl come up to her at school and say, 'Your dad was in jail; is he still there?' I didn't say what happened."

But Denise just told Oprah in an interview that she eventually had to come clean about their father's whereabouts at the time. Hardly an enviable position for her to be put in.

More troubled parents ? but it seems that these two may just be able to salvage their marriage.

Elin Nordegren is reported to have visited husband Tiger Woods in sex-addiction rehab, and decided to give the marriage another go.

"Elin wants a solid family life," says an insider. "She was a child of divorce and felt her dad slighted her. She absolutely does not want that to happen to Sam and Charlie [the couple's daughters]. So she wants to keep her family together even if she and Tiger live together as friends instead of lovers."

There's a lot to be said for that, but much against, too ? not least of which is the example she'll be setting her daughters of what they should accept from men.

But, maybe Tiger can reform and repair enough to really make it work. Frankly, it's sounded to me from the first as if Elin would stay with him. I just hope she does it on terms fair enough to her and their girls.

Now, surely a column full of rather lost celeb souls wouldn't be complete without some mention of Lindsay Lohan?

Surprisingly enough, though, LiLo makes it in here not for some drunken after-party car crash or public screaming match. No, Linds is actually doing something productive and worthy ? donating the profits from sales of one of the items in her leggings range to Save the Children, to help kids in Haiti.

"It is truly horrible what has happened to the people and children in Haiti," comments Lohan on her leggings' website. "I believe every company should do their part to help by donating what they can. Please help us do our part for the Children of Haiti by purchasing this 6126 legging"

Uh, I think I can do my part rather more effectively by giving money directly myself, rather than buying over-priced leggings (they've been reduced from close to R700 to very near on R500 ? what a bargain!) and having just the profits after costs be donated.

And I'm reasonably sure that I don't have any obligation to help Lindsay do her part, however poorly her career may presently be going.
