The tabloids have been gleefully announcing in giant headlines that Brad and Jen are practically reunited, and that Brangelina's days are numbered.

But the recent, very deliberately public, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie outing to a swanky LA restaurant involved much we're-still-like-totally-together hand-holding for the paparazzi. Is it all just a ruse for the rags until they announce a split, or are the couple weathering their rocky patch?

Who the hell knows. I'm not calling this one!

Clearly, things aren't all sunlight and kittens in the world of Brange, but they do have six kids to raise and every single relationship has its crappy times. And, I certainly don't think Jen Aniston would be doing herself any favours to take Brad back...

Then there's Linds' lovelife.

Lindsay Lohan seems to be having a field day on the dating front ? and, even if no-one can keep track of who she's really seeing and who's just a fun evening out, it definitely looks as if she's focusing on the guys again.

Aside from all the rumours swirling about her and John Mayer (finally, a pair involving Mayer that I can actually get behind!), there's also lots of talk that she's now dating one of the 'Entourage' stars, Kevin Connolly, whom she met at a party at Leonardo DiCaprio's place in Hollywood last month.

"Lindsay and Kevin have been sneaking around. It's not serious yet, but they seem to have some sort of physical connection. Lindsay isn't sure what's going to happen, so for now she wants to keep things quiet," says an insider.

At least the latest Lindsay news isn't anything to do with her horrifying father.

And, on the topic of people I'm none too keen ever to meet... let's talk about Simon Cowell. The man who's made himself a fortune and worldwide fame on the back of his 'Idols' franchise, and garnered a rep as Mr Nasty, is hardly the most modest or lovable guy, but he's got one big celeb fan out there.

Will Ferrell reveals that he's just itching to portray Simon in a big-screen biopic of the egotistical Brit.

"I would love to play Simon Cowell in a movie ? heck, I would love it! It would be my dream role. He's become a legend in five years; nobody knew who he was five years ago, and now he's one of the most famous people on TV," enthuses the star of such comedy gems as 'Old School', 'Blades of Glory', and 'Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy'.

"It wouldn't be that hard for me to play him," continues Ferrell, "because I see a lot of Ron Burgundy in Simon Cowell."

"Like Simon, Ron was the biggest thing on TV, loved himself ? they are like long-lost twin brothers separated at birth. It would be fun getting into character as well. I would walk along the street and say, 'Hey, you're too fat to be a star,' or go to a concert and shout out to the artist, 'Never gonna happen.'"

"Come on, Simon. You know it would be fun," Will appeals to the reality show mogul. "I could spend some time shadowing you. We could spend time in your mansion in high trousers and black, round-neck tees just being rude to people ? it would be great."

Ferrell as Cowell? Where do I buy my ticket?!

On page two: JLo reads gossip rags, the 'Gossip Girl' stars are trying their hand at music and Ashlee Simpson is already getting on her co-stars' nerves.
