She's undoubtedly the flavour of the month, with an extremely popular role in musical comedy Pitch Perfect and a successful hosting stint at this year's MTV Movie Awards. Meet Rebel Wilson - most popularly known to audiences as "Fat Amy".
Yep - although her first big-time Hollywood role was as a chavvy English girl in Kristen Wiig's Bridesmaids, Wilson was born and bred in what she has described as the "ghetto" side of Sydney to a family of dog-handlers. In fact, her mom breads beagles - and Wilson was a junior handle, which she described as "Toddlers and Tiaras with dogs".
She was a maths boffin - and studied law
Wilson has said that at school, her first choice career was mathematics. She described herself as "very academic at high school and was always good with numbers". At the University of South Wales, she studied law and arts. In a recent interview she revealed: "I didn't have an opportunity to practice, but you never know… One day, if things don't work out, I might be a barrister!"
A trip to South Africa sparked her acting dream
Well, a trip to South Africa and an extremely serious bout of malaria. In 1998, Wilson spent a year in South Africa as a Rotary International Youth Ambassador for Australia and contracted malaria, during which she claims she had hallucinations in which she won an Oscar and rapped her acceptance speech. Watch her tell the (surprisingly hilarious) story to Ellen DeGeneres in this clip.
She won a scholarship from Nicole Kidman
In 2003, while studying at the Australian Theatre for Young People, a 22-year-old Wilson was given a $12 000 scholarship by Nicole Kidman to do something to further her career. She moved to New York and started working with improv group The Second City.
She came to public attention in Sydney with the stage musical The Westie Monologues, which she wrote, produced and starred in. In Australia, she won fame for her roles on dark comedy Pizza and sketch comedy show The Wedge. She had an early role "Girl in Alley" in 2007's Ghost Rider.
Wilson has a strong tie to musical comedy, it seems - she also wrote, produced and starred in the musical comedy series Bogan Pride in 2008. And in 2009, she won the Tropfest Award for Best Actress for her role in Bargain, which earned her a $3000 prize from... Nicole Kidman.
USA! USA! USA!
Upon moving to Los Angeles, Wilson's first project was a small role in Bridesmaids - Judd Apatow's smash-hit comedy. She also had roles in Bachelorette and What to Expect When You're Expecting, as well as a supporting role in Glee star Chris Colfer's Struck By Lightning and a voice role for Ice Age 3: Continental Drift. But it was her role in Pitch Perfect - which won her an MTV Award for Best Breakthrough Performance - that has catapulted her into major fame.
Wilson is distantly related to Walt Disney - her great aunt, Lillian Bounds, was married to Disney.
She lives with her Bridesmaids co-star Matt Lucas - who played her brother in the film.
She's a spokesperson for weight-loss company Jenny Craig in Australia.
And fun stuff...
Let's be honest, you're all really here to see Rebel's most popular moments. Here's a selection. You're welcome.
"Fat Amy" - best moments
Fun fact - most of Wilson's work on Bridesmaids was improv. She told interviewers that there must be "hundreds of hours" of her random quips on the cutting room floor.
