Despite wearing thousand-dollar gowns, Hollywood A-listers continue to show us they're still human and not everything goes their way all the time.

History shows that whether the nip slip or flash of underwear is a blunder or a statement, one little oops-moment and the images will be there for the world to see forever – causing controversy, lawsuits... But most of the time just a laugh.  

Madonna's Turkish troubles 

Madonna caused a stir on her current MDNA tour in Istanbul as she purposely flashed her breast in front of ecstatic fans. While some are calling it an attempt to show solidarity with Turkish women as their government considers banning abortions and C-sections, other commentators – such as Howard Stern – are calling her "desperate". Madge has clearly had a change of heart since blasting Janet Jackson's famous Super Bowl malfunction, claiming "you don't have to show nipples to be interesting, and it doesn't necessarily mean you're cutting edge if you do".

Janet Jackson: 'Nipplegate'

Jackson's reputation took a tumble after her nipple slip during the 2004 Super Bowl half-time performance with Justin Timberlake. Timberlake pulled off a part of her costume when he reached his final line of Rock Your Body ("I'm gonna have you naked by the end of this song") revealing her right breast, partially covered by nipple jewellery. Although lasting only a second, the image caused massive controversy, sparking several lawsuits. Although it is still widely speculated that the slip was planned, Timberlake later came forward in a statement, "I am sorry that anyone was offended. It was not intentional and is regrettable."

Tara Reid shows her boob

In 2004, The American Pie actress popped out of her black gown at P Diddy's 35th birthday bash in New York. Tara Reid dropped the dress strap when her left breast came out of it as she posed and smiled for photographers. It wasn't until a handler subtly tugged the strap back in place that Tara, with a look of horror on her face, realised. When asked about it, Reid brushed it off, saying, "People act like it was the worst crime in the world. It was a mistake, you know!"

Taylor Swift's dress flies

The country-singing sweetheart let her baby doll dress fly while performing at her concert in St Louis in 2011. In a major Marilyn Monroe moment, her spanx-like bottoms flashed while she belted You Belong With Me. But she managed to handle it like a pro, explaining to Ryan Seacrest, "We have wind machines for a few songs in the show and they weren't supposed to be on during that song. I walked over thinking it wasn't on and it just kind of blew it up a little bit. I was just sort of like, 'Well, that's new' and just continued on with the show."

Khloe Kardashian-Odom's oops

The youngest Kardashian sister helped millions of Americans start their day when her nipple peeked through her see-through blouse during Fox & Friends in 2011. The fact that it lasted the entire 6-minute interview didn't seem to bother the reality-star either, as she tweeted "I had a nip slip and I loved it!" and even replied to a fan, "Thank God I f***ing love nipples!@Wendel817: @KhloeKardashian Your nipple was showing on Fox and Friends. See through Tops FTW."
