"Jazz and all the artsy kinds of music have a really snobby vibe about them," offers the laidback David Poole. He should know, with a music degree from UCT and a background in jazz bands.

"I think it's just human nature — we all want to have our little clubs," he adds.

"But everyone's invited to Goldfish," chimes in Dominic Peters, the other half of the group.

And that free-for-all attitude is just one of the reasons the Cape Town duo have spent the past six months overseas, including a club residency at Ibiza and an appearance at the legendary Glastonbury music festival. Hell, Dr Dre even came up and bought their album after a show.

Ahead of their performance at this weekend's Rocking the Daisies, Goldfish talk breaking away from traditional jazz, making decisions with ching-chong-cha, and inviting everyone to their party.
