Here at iafrica.com, we are exceptionally good at a number of different things. Telling the future is not one of them.

Last Friday we made our predictions for this year's Primetime Emmy Awards, and now we see how we fared.

Outstanding Drama Series
Our winner: 'Dexter'/'House'
Actual winner: 'Mad Men'

You voted 'House' in our poll, and we agreed. The iafrica.com newsroom was convinced that it was a close race between 'House' and 'Dexter'. Apparently we were wrong. The television drama set in the 1960s scooped the award for the second year on the trot.

Outstanding Comedy Series
Our winner: '30 Rock'/'How I Met Your Mother'
Actual winner: '30 Rock'

As much as our resident 'How I Met Your Mother' fans would have loved to see the sitcom take the top honours, our crystal ball was almost positive that '30 Rock' was going to win this award for the third time in a row by a country mile. But, crystal balls are often wrong and so we threw in both for good measure. Still, a point for us!

Outstanding Reality Competition
Our winner: 'The Amazing Race'
Actual winner: 'The Amazing Race'

Ha! One thing we do know here on iafrica.com is our reality television (despite SABC3's efforts to befuddle our viewing). 'The Amazing Race' won by a landslide in our newsroom… it's an ingenious concept that just keeps on going and going.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series
Our winner: Michael C. Hall ('Dexter') and Hugh Laurie ('House')
Actual winner: Bryan Cranston ('Breaking Bad')

Pssh. Obviously the Emmy judges haven't turned on their televisions in the past couple of months. Okay, just kidding. Bryan Cranston has won critical acclaim (and now a shiny statuette) for his portrayal of a methamphetamine-dealing chemistry teacher in 'Breaking Bad'.

Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series
Our winner: Glenn Close ('Damages')
Actual winner: Glenn Close ('Damages')

Booya! Another point for us! But could there be any other? Glenn Close scooped this award for her role as Patty Hewes on 'Damages' for the second time in a row — and she adds this Emmy award to her collection of three Tonys, four Emmys, two Golden Globes, and a Screen Actors Guild Award. She must have a very cluttered mantelpiece.

Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series
Our winner: Alec Baldwin ('30 Rock')
Actual winner: Alec Baldwin ('30 Rock')

Alec Baldwin makes it a double with his portrayal of a slippery network executive on a fictional network sketch show in '30 Rock'. And his double is yet another point for the iafrica.com fortune-tellers.
