UN COMEDY THEATRE SHOW

Previously hosted by Pauly Shore in 2007, this production showcases seven stand-up comedians from seven countries and features host Paul Rodriguez (Mexico/USA), Sugar Sammy (India/Canada), Carl Barron (Australia), Paul Zerdin (England), Bobby Lee (Korea), Frank Spadone (Italy/Canada) and Trevor Noah (South Africa).

COMEDY SHOWDOWN

The comedy platform for vibrant and aspiring talent, the Comedy Showdown gives undiscovered newcomers the chance to perform on stage with the international heavyweights for one night only.

John Vlismas and his team from Whacked Management will be running the preliminaries of the Comedy Showdowns at the Cool Runnings dungeon in Mellville, the winners of which go into the late night comedy showdown semi-finals during that week. Friday’s semi-finals winner will perform with the headlining international heavyweights at the closing night of the Jozi Comedy festival at Monte Casino.

HOT AIR AIR GUITAR COMPETITION

"Hot Air" is the ultimate Air Guitar Competition for Air Rock Gods.

Taking it out of the bedroom and on to the stage at Montecasino, some see Air Guitar as musical self expression, others as a competitive sport and other still as a form of performance art. Whatever the reason, air guitar is so ingrained in our rock fabric that it has become an almost instinctual response. Play the right rift and for many, air guitar simply happens.

Get ready to rock.

STREET COMEDY

A cast of internationally street performers will be showing Jozi crowds that laughter is indeed an international currency when they take comedy to the city’s streets.

Mr. Bunk (Canada) presents a unique mixture of improvised physical comedy and outrageous puppetry. He silently plays with the crowd and creates a spectacle out of nothing. The highlight of the show features audience members playing characters in a ridiculous and unforgettable pantomime. With so much audience participation and improvised comedy, every show is different.

The Silly People (Canada), Phil LeConte and Colin Franks, are two guys from Kitchener/Waterloo, Ontario who have a flair for ‘silliness’. They have been performing for over 15 years and have worked in fourteen different countries. With a blend of quick wit, slapstick and random useless skills they create “free-style comedy”: balloons, juggling, and circus skills…

Miss Pandora Pink (UK) is inspired by cigar box masters, Bella & Kris Kremo, and comic genius W.C Fields, and she has developed her own unique style of the box manipulation. She does a sassy 10 box stack & balance, a nifty hat routine and swings, jives and rocks you through 45 minutes of entertainment which climaxes with the tittering tower of titillation and the rocking rola-bola!
