M-Net Movies have confirmed paralympic athlete, Oscar Pistorius, as the brand ambassador for its Every Night is Oscar Night campaign in February this year.
In a quirky promo spot shot for M-Net Movies, Pistorius is "kidnapped" by an over-zealous event promoter to be a "life-sized" Oscar.

Pistorius's mass appeal cuts across various age groups, just like the Oscars Award Show speaks to all audiences. Pierre Cloete, Channel Director for M-Net Movies, "We are honoured to work with an international icon as renowned as Oscar. The brands core values of freshness and adventure will further be amplified by his association and will assist in promoting the M-Net Movies brand and taking it to the next level".
Pistorius, who is riding high on his wins at the recent Olympics and Paralympics, says that he is looking forward to the partnership with M-Net Movies and the promoting of the 28 Days of Oscars drive: "I am really excited to see how the campaign is received. I had a lot of fun shooting it, as it was totally different from the norm. I’m sure the public will enjoy it as much as I did".
The Blade Runner has an array of great performances and achievements to his name, with the most recent including winning gold in the 400m individual and 100m relay finals and silver in the 200m finals at the 2012 London Paralympics. He has just been confirmed to race at the Sydney and Perth installments of the 2013 Qantas Australian Athletics Tour.
In conjunction with M-Net Movies, Pistorius will jointly promote the channel's Oscar-winning movies for the month of February, leading up to the actual award ceremony on Monday 25 February. His various interactions can be followed on-air, on www.mnetmovies.tv or via social media (M-Net Movies on Facebook and @mnetmovies on Twitter).
