Cape Town City Ballet (CTCB) goes exotic with their next season that will feature scenes from ballets rarely seen in South Africa today.

The programme features extracts from the second act of the iconic ballet 'Spartacus', set in the smouldering confines of a desert tent, enabling audiences to experience the excitement of Veronica Paeper’s demanding and imaginative choreography.

CTCB’s Principal Ballerina Megan Swart will alternate with Janine Laidlow as 'Aegina', with Johnny Bovang as the imperious 'Gracchus'.

The Dance for All Youth Company (DFAYC) will also take part in this season with soloist Xola Putye performing the athletic role of 'Crassus', the Roman general.

Also on the programme will be the principal pas de deux from 'Sheherazade', danced by Lauren Rogers and Manie Irving, as well as scenes from the second act of 'Raymonda', featuring Laura Bosenberg and CTCB newcomer, Frieda Mennen — all with the emphasis on seduction, intrigue and allure.

Enjoy an evening of sultry entertainment to the exquisite music of Rimsky-Korsakov, Khachaturian, Minkus and other great composers as you witness balletic entertainment at its finest from the dancers of the Cape Town City Ballet and the Dance for All Youth Company.
