Thirteen dwarves, a hobbit and a wizard - meet the group journeying to the Lonely Mountain in 'The Hobbit' to retrieve the dwarven treasure from the clutches of the dragon Smaug.
Bilbo Baggins, played by Martin Freeman, is the titular hobbit of the film. He is hired by Gandalf to be a burglar for Thorin and company's mission to the Lonely Mountain.
Gandalf, played again by Ian McKellen, is one of the last wizards to appear in Middle-Earth. He is grey-haired, grey-clad and is the mastermind behind Bilbo's recruitment to the company.
Thorin Oakenshield, played by Richard Armitage, is the leader of the expedition to the Lonely Mountain, where he hopes to kill the dragon Smaug and claim his rightful place as King Under the Mountain.
Bifur – played by William Kircher – is cousin to Bofur and Bombur.
Bofur – played by James Nesbitt – is cousin to Bifur and brother to Bombur.
Bombur, played by Stephen Hunter, is a dwarf famed for his immense bulk and clumsiness.
Dori is played by Mark Hadlow and is brother to Nori and Ori. He is described by Thorin as the strongest member of the company.
Nori, played by Jed Brophy, is brother to Dori and Ori.
Ori, played by Adam Brown, is brother to Nori and Dori. All three brothers play the flute.
Balin - played by Ken Stott. Balin is Dwalin's older brother and, in the novel, the group's "look-out".
Dwalin, played by Graham McTavish, lent Bilbo one of his hoods in the novel,
Oin, played by John Callen, is brother to Gloin.
Gloin, played by Peter Hambleton, is the brother of Oin and the father of Lord of the Rings' Gimli.
Fili, played by Dean O'Gorman, is one of the youngest dwarves in Thorin's company and is Kili's brother and Thorin's nephew.
Kili, like his brother Fili, has the best eyesight of the company due to his age. The two are often sent scouting or searching. Kili is played by Aidan Turner.
