The Rum Diary: Based on the debut novel by Hunter S. Thompson. New Yorker Paul Kemp (Johnny Depp) travels to Puerto Rico to write for a local newspaper. He becomes obsessed with Chenault (Amber Heard), the fiancée of Sanderson - one of a growing number of American entrepreneurs determined to convert Puerto Rico into a capitalist paradise in service of the wealthy. When Kemp is recruited by Sanderson to write favourably about his latest unsavoury scheme, the journalist is presented with a choice.
One for the Money: Based on the novel by Janet Evanovich, Katherine Heigl stars as Stephanie Plum, an unemployed lingerie buyer who becomes a bounty hunter to make ends meet. She starts with Joe Morelli, vice cop and one-time boyfriend who is wanted for murder one. In trying to find Morelli, Plum attracts the attention of a heavyweight boxer involved in the murders of several women.
War Horse: Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film is based on the novel by Michael Morpurgo and set during the First World War. It begins with the remarkable friendship between a horse named Joey and a young man called Albert, who tames and trains him. When they are forcefully parted, the film follows the extraordinary journey of the horse as he moves through the war, changing and inspiring the lives of all those he meets. A Dangerous Method: Based on the non-fiction work by John Kerr. Seduced by the challenge of an impossible case, the driven Dr Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) takes the unbalanced yet beautiful Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley) as his patient. Jung's weapon is the method of his master, the renowned Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen) – and both men fall under Sabina's spell.
Paradise Lost: Alex Proyas - who helmed The Crow - has been confirmed to direct this film adaptation of John Milton's epic poem about the Fall of Man. So far, Bradley Cooper has been cast as Satan and Casey Affleck has been tipped for the role of Gabriel.
